The Bow Council of Fellows is a private group made up of ~15 members. The Bow Council of Fellows exists primarily to serve the interests of its group members, but still give back to the community.
The Bow Council of Fellows was established by a group of students and now lifelong friends in the Bow High School Media Lab in March (we think) 2018. The Media Lab senate was founded to create an oversight group into the student use of The Media Lab. This senate was voluntarily established by students for the students using the space. The following school year the Media Lab Accords where created as a list of rules and guidelines of the space. In April (we think) of 2018 the phrase "Welcome Back" as a greeting was coined and became a common slang saying whenever someone entered the space regardless of weather or not they where in the space earlier that day.
The oversight was needed because at the time The Media Lab was a powerhouse of multimedia content creation and creativity. Well rounded, respected, and highly memed local school shows such as Fireside Reviews, The Bow High School Meme Discussion, BHS News Breaking News, and of course the famous Talon Talk (2017-2018) where created in this space by The Media Lab Senate and other students.
What made the space special was not the old but well oiled video equipment, the high powered computers, or the quiet space. Maybe what was created and came out of it made it more special but the Media Lab's impact on the students in the senate was how it shaped the high schools years of the students. This sounds pretty cringe right? Well we took it seriously at the time and we look back on those years with respect and nostalgia and we thank those who made it possible along the way including our advisors who allowed us to practically live in the space for a number of years. Their trust, help, and respect helped make it all possible. The Media Lab group stayed together throughout each person's graduation and in early 2022 rebranded to: The Bow Council of Fellows.
The governmental structure used in the Media Lab Senate was reformed into The Bow Council of Fellows with a new purpose, to serve its members and give back to the community. Today The Bow Council of Fellows has several sub committees or 'cantons' responsible for different aspects of the group and keeping it together. Members of The Bow Council of Fellows are active in their community's including their home town of Bow either working or volunteering in the area. Many of the members in The Bow Council of Fellows are either in or entering into STEM fields post college graduation, and use their skills gained over the years to aid in Robotics events (such as VEX Robotics competition) and other STEM related events, clubs, and activities.
